IslandWood

IslandWood, (formerly the Puget Sound Environmental Learning Center), opened to the public September 2002 with a weekend of celebrations and community tours. Located on a 225-acre property on Bainbridge Island, just across the water from Seattle, IslandWood’s primary focus is discovery-based learning and outdoor field experiences for children that appeal to different learning styles and interests. Their programs integrate scientific inquiry, technology, and the arts, helping both children and adults develop a deeper understanding of the relationships between biological and cultural diversity.

Operating from sustainably designed facilities on a 255-acre campus, the organization serves as a model for energy conservation and offers a four-day overnight environmental program to area schoolchildren.

Partners in Design began our relationship with IslandWood in 1996 by developing the publications program for the fledgling organization and we are proud of our long-term relationship with such an important regional nonprofit.
