In 1990 San Juan County (just north of Seattle) voters approved funding for the San Juan County Land Bank through a one percent real estate transfer tax paid by purchasers of property in the county. The funds are set aside expressly for the purpose of preserving the natural heritage of the islands. Partners in Design has collaborated with the Land Bank since its inception, designing their identity, first web site, publications, and property signage.
